An Election Day Blessing?

While journaling in this morning’s pre-dawn (I ‘pray’ with a pen), it ‘came’ to me: Mother Nature herself is participating in this election cycle, from Hurricane Isaac’s disruption of BOTH political party conventions to Super Storm Sandy’s devastation.
Might this suggest that the 5000 year battle between the Mother goddess and a Father god has come full circle, and that the ‘closeness’ of this race is the patriarchy is making its last ditch effort to hang on, chanting USA, USA, USA as a magical incantation against the rising tide of climate catastrophe?
Thus when the sun rose in a blaze of red across the blue sky, I reached for Gus Speth’s 2004 book Red Sky at Morning; America and the Crisis of the Global Environment: A Citizen’s Agenda for Action.
In a timeline that begins with Rachel Carson’s Silent Spring back in 1962 and moves up to the Kyoto Protocol of 2003, Speth documents human awareness and action around the major issue of our era in Time.
We the people have been struggling for a long while to get back into right relation with the natural world before we wreck the planet altogether. No matter how this phase of the process plays out, we have our work cut out for us….
For Mother has ‘spoken,’ whether you interpret her message as a blessing or a curse!
